About Tons of Tools About Tons of Tools

Tons of Tools was started in May of 2004 by Irvin Airdrie.  He was responsible for the development of the Tons of Tools concept.

Irv grew up learning and working with his Dad, Irvin Sr. in his tool repair shop in Toronto's east end.  After Irvin Sr.'s retirement, Irv left his sales manager position in the lumber industry and took over the business.  Over the years he has seen the tool industry change.  With the implementation of the "Big Box" format and higher volumes of inexpensive imports coming tinto the market, he saw an opportunity.  He opened up a small "Mom and Pop" type tool store that was ableto compete with the "Big Box" type store without their high overhead.

And so Tons of Tools was born catering to it's local neighborhood through flyer promotions it quickly grew to become a staple for east end contractors.  Advertising in major daily publications as well as regular radio promotion has helped to make it a recognized name, drawing custmers from all over the GTA.

In the spring of 2008 Irv's father-in-law, Doug Frazer joined forces with him to take the business to another level of growth.  Doug had just retired after selling his very successful concrete company in the Niagara Region.  An entrepreneur himself for many years, Doug taught courses on business at Niagara College and was honoured to receive  the Entrepreneur of the Year award for the Niagara Region in 2007.

"Creating a win/win by helping other entrepreneurs work for themselves but not by themselves is the next step in the progression of Tons ofTools."
